For proper spending of education fees

Vote for ambition

5.2 For effective Career Services

The Independent Student wants:
– Funding to be moved from Career Services to study associations;
– Career Services to solely function as a supportive department to study associations;

Study associations represent all students from their respective studies. They form bonds between students, represent the interests of their students and bring them closer to potential employers.

Career Services is a department of the University of Groningen who does the same thing, but is funded with public money. The Independent Student wants education fees to be spend effectively. Therefore, the university should not fund a department which does exactly the same as all the study associations do. The funding of the part of Career Services that focuses on the individual student, should therefore be moved to the study associations as a subsidy.

Career Services can be a valuable asset in a reduced form, when providing support and information to study associations. The Independent Student therefore believes that Career Services should remain as a department who can support and improve the services of study associations with knowledge and experience.
